Shopaholics, take delight – we bring you on a virtual tour to popular markets and shopping tours in Phuket!
The Day Market is near the town centre and traces it’s roots back to when the Europeans, Indians, Chinese and Malays all traded in Phuket. Although you might still find some fabrics made in South East Asia, this market mainly sells and specialises in food.
Aside from being known as the historical commercial hub of Phuket, there are also two fresh markets within this market. These are Talad Sod Satarana and the Downtown market. However, there are other goods sold here aside from fresh produce. There are hats, baskets, fireworks and even slingshots sold here, all in the small shops that are also in the market.
Ranong Road, aside from holding the day market, is also known as being the locals’ bus station, with blue ‘buses’ (converted trucks) coming by to drop you off at the Phuket beaches for reasonable prices. It is possible to go to Patong Beach on a ticket bought for only 20 Baht.
This is also the road to find out some of the ordinary yet local dishes to eat. Most of the popular Thai vegetarian restaurants can be found at the end of the road, serving their very best healthy delicacies.
2. Kamala Friday Market
Before or after watching a Friday show at Phuket Fantasea, head on over to the coconut plantation opposite for the Friday Market. The souvenirs and other interesting goods you can buy here are usually much cheaper than what can be found at the Festival Village at Phuket Fantasea. This market runs all year round, come rain or shine. Goods range from fresh, local produce, clothes, hair accessories, CD’s and DVD’s, as well as handicrafts.

Accompanied with English and Thai speaking guides that have exceptional local knowledge and therefore are able to get you exclusive deals and discounts. As these guides help you get the best deals on clothes and souvenirs throughout the tour, you will be relieved by the safe storage that this tour provides of your goods whilst along your shopping trip!
